How to pay with crypto (Aurpay)
Why this matters: Small payments like $7–$15 often fail or cost too much on Bitcoin or Ethereum because their networks can have higher fees. Aurpay lets you pay with faster, cheaper coins so checkout is smooth.
Which option should I choose?
- Beginner / Coinbase user (U.S. or global): Use USDC (ERC20) or USDT (ERC20). These always work on Coinbase, though fees may be $3–$10.
- If you want the lowest fees: Use USDT (TRC20) (Tether on the Tron network). This is usually less than $1 per transfer, but requires a wallet or exchange that supports Tron (e.g., KuCoin, Binance, or TrustWallet).
- Ignore the rest if you’re new: BEP20, BNB, and BTC Lightning are for advanced users and not supported on Coinbase.
Quick rule: On Coinbase? → pick USDC (ERC20).
Have Binance/KuCoin? → pick USDT (TRC20).
If you’re brand new
The simplest path is to buy a small amount of USDC (ERC20) directly with USD inside your exchange (e.g., Coinbase). No need to touch your Bitcoin.
If you already hold Bitcoin or Ethereum
You can Convert a small amount into USDT or USDC inside your exchange. This is usually instant. Note: any crypto-to-crypto conversion is a taxable event (capital gain/loss) in many jurisdictions—most people still do a quick swap for small purchases.
Important: match coin + network exactly
If Aurpay shows USDT • TRC20, choose USDT and the TRC20 network when sending. If it shows USDC • ERC20, choose USDC on Ethereum. Wrong network = failed/irreversible payment.
Step-by-step (Coinbase example)
- At checkout, select Aurpay and pick a listed coin (e.g., USDC-ERC20).
- In Coinbase, tap Buy (or Convert if you already have crypto). Choose the same coin and network.
- Copy the address from Aurpay and paste it into Coinbase. Send the exact amount Aurpay shows.
- Wait for confirmation. That’s it.
Is sending to a wallet safe?
Yes—sending crypto to a wallet address shown at checkout is how blockchains are designed to work. A few simple rules keep you safe:
- Addresses are public; keys are private. It’s safe to send to a public wallet address. Never share your private key or seed phrase—those are what control your funds.
- Always match coin + network. Send USDT only to the USDT address on the specified network (e.g., TRC20). Same for USDC on ERC20.
- Blockchains are irreversible. Double-check the address and network before sending; if wrong, transactions cannot be undone.
- Custodial vs. self-custody. If you’re using an exchange (e.g., Coinbase), you don’t handle keys directly—just make sure you pick the correct asset and network when withdrawing.
- Security basics. Never share 2FA codes, seed phrases, or private keys. We will never ask for them.
Bottom line: On Coinbase, use USDC (ERC20).
If you want lower fees and have another wallet, use USDT (TRC20).
Using the address Aurpay provides and matching the network is 100% the intended, secure way to pay on blockchains.
